Unfurling

His Desire

He looked at the clock and sees that its almost six. She would be coming out of the office building at some point now. This is his second favorite time of the day. The first favorite is watching her go into the building. She is usually subdued and her walk is slower with a coffee cup in her hand. It is almost like she is easing herself into the office and the day. Watching her leave the building after work though, that is the best. She  oftentimes is distracted but still looking beautiful as she strides to the parking garage. There is a sense of power in her stride at the end of the day. Even now he could envision her long chestnut hair swinging as she walks down the sidewalk to the parking garage. On one arm she’d have her briefcase and the other hand would be handling her phone. He bet she smells good too.

It is almost March so the window in his apartment is closed so he can’t hear her voice or smell the food from the various restaurants nearby. He wishes it was warmer because he knows her voice would carry and he’d get to hear how she sounds. He imagines a husky voice when she speaks. Walking into the kitchen he grabs a beer and then heads to the armchair he has in front of the window which faces her office building. It provides the perfect view of her comings and goings.

An hour later he isn’t disappointed, out she comes and he is right. She looks beautiful. Her hair is down today and she has on a black coat that hits the top of her thighs. He can see her black heels peeking out from her slacks as she strides to the parking garage. She is on the phone and appears to be upset based on her hand gestures. Who would upset her that much? He hates to see her upset. She stops right outside of the parking garage doors and now he can tell she is yelling. He can’t hear what is being said but the tone of her voice speaks volumes. This isn’t good. He doesn’t like seeing her angry and she must really be angry if he can hear her. He watches as she disappears into the parking garage and thought he is right about her voice, it is husky.

He takes another sip of beer, watching for her to come out on one of the floors and head to her vehicle.
Ahh .. there she is.

He watches her stalk to her white two-door sports car. He isn’t sure what make it is but she sure looks good in the front seat. He enjoys a few more sips of beer and then sees the car exit the garage heading out of town. He sighs replaying her coming out of the building. Her hair swinging and the noise of her heels tapping the pavement as she walks.

What he wouldn’t give to know more about her and her life. He might have to do something to meet her. The last time he tried to meet one of the office building women it hadn’t gone well. In fact, it had gone very badly. He’d picked Alyssa because she was pretty and seemed kind. She hadn’t been kind which had disappointed him sorely. He isn’t sure though, how long he can wait to meet this new one. She is prettier than Alyssa and there is a toughness about her that intrigues him.

He smiles to himself as he finishes his beer. He’d been in luck when this apartment became available. Here he is in a part of the city that contains a lot of  businesses so the views on the street are entertaining. He can see the lawyers, the executives, and the office personnel every day arriving then leaving. He sees the disagreements, the fights, and of course, the love that occurs week after week. Finishing his beer, he throws the bottle into the recycle bin and moves back to the recliner. Already he is looking forward to tomorrow morning and watching her walk into the office.
