I had the opportunity this summer to attend a few virtual writer conferences. While I never jumped for joy in having to attend conferences for corporate America, I loved attending the writer conferences. It is a great opportunity to learn the craft, meet fellow authors who are beginning their journey like me, and it also allows you to meet published authors. Meeting a new published author to me means more books to read and you can never have too many books.
One of the many classes I attended at the Romance Slam Jam Writers Conference included Vanessa Riley as a presenter (https://vanessariley.com) . She is a woman of faith and as a sister-in-Christ, I knew that I would be purchasing her books to read. (There are other authors I met during this conference that I will be sharing in future blogs.)
I purchased A Duke, The Lady and A Baby, set in the Regency Era, and was not disappointed. It is a stellar read. I connected with the main character, Patience. The similarities between us are eerie. She doesn’t follow instructions and does what she thinks makes the most sense for the issue or problem. Most of her antics are all for the sake of her child. That struck a chord with me as a mother. As a mother, I am fairly certain we have all climbed a mountain or two for our children to provide opportunities or advantages that will positively influence them. I know that I have for all of our children.
I don’t want to share any more of the story and ruin it for you, but I encourage everyone to check this book out. It is definitely worth the time and it is an easy read. An easy read meaning that you will be immersed in the story and find yourself chuckling or gasping depending on where you are in the book itself.
Book 2, An Earl, The Girl, and A Toddler, can be pre-ordered now. I have pre-ordered my copy and I can hardly wait until it is received.
